Soul Searching in Daggett, CA

Shot with an Olympus OM-4 with a Zuiko MC Auto-W 1:2 f=35mm, and a Zuiko Auto-W 21mm f/3.5 on Kodacolor 200.

Soul searching, I mean literally, looking for someone at this juncture near Route 66. It was pretty much empty except a few cars passing by, though there is a school that looks to be still in use and an old post office with its flag still waving in the air. Those were the only signs of life in this town near Calico. I was alone when I took these. I think this is the best time to photograph–when traveling alone. I get more done without having to think about the family waiting. I drove around town  and found some dunes and islands of tumbleweeds on dry cracked sands. I didn’t dare park near the soft dunes as I saw remnants of tire tracks where a car had gotten stuck. The temperature was in the high 90s and the air was dry as a bone.
