Frost on blades of grass. Shot on Fujicolor NPS 160 film with a Nikon FA and Nikkor 85mm f/2.0 Ai-S. Converted to black & white. ISO set to 80. The original image was much brighter but as I began converting it to black & white, I realize by subtracting the brightness I created a more dramatic effect and the details of the ice forming on the blades of grass were more apparent and evident. The lesson I take from this is I don’t have to start with an underexposed image to create a contrasting effect.
