Fearless Thinker

I had an opportunity to photograph a friend of mine, Michael Price, a professional speaker who founded The Courage of Fearless Thinking.  I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with him about “fear” and how it can limit personal growth.  And he’s helped me overcome some of my own fears, specifically with my business.  I think this portrait shows how approachable he is.  That’s what is great about Michael, his talks are on a personal level-not talking above us, but rather, as one of us.

Peak Performance

I took these shots after 4pm yesterday.  It was a gloomy day behind Peak Performance Crossfit training center in San Dimas.  I crancked up the ISO to 1250 and sometimes 1600 just to get enough brightness through the lens.  I was using a Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L wide open but it still wasn’t quite enough.  But I came away with a few shots I can use.  Three of them I show here.  Although the clouds covered much of the afternoon light, I did use them to my advantage; I shot low and bracketed my shots at 2 stops.  I used the lowkey image for the background and masked the highkey for the foreground (make sense?).  Anyway, here’s what I got.
