Talk about getting out of my comfort zone.\u00c2\u00a0 I was asked by Adrienne (a former wedding client of mine; see post in my wedding blog here<\/a> and here<\/a>) to photograph three bathrooms she recently designed for a historic home in Claremont.\u00c2\u00a0 When I got to the house, I realized I had forgotten to bring my tripod.\u00c2\u00a0 So what was I to do?\u00c2\u00a0 To think fast (as I usually have to do when I shoot weddings), I bracketed the shots on my Canon 5D Mark II using relatively mid to high ISO. I used an EF 16-35mm f\/2.8 L for the very wide shots and an EF 35mm f\/1.2.\u00c2\u00a0 I braced myself against the walls or door jams to hold my camera very still.\u00c2\u00a0 Sometimes, I used my Pelican 1510 case to sit on for added support and lower my line of sight.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s a very handy gear case if you asked me.\u00c2\u00a0 Nonetheless, I bracketed or took three consecutive shots of the scene to give me three different exposure while holding the camera as still as possible.\u00c2\u00a0 This allowed me to do a simple HDR (high dynamic range) on my computer using masking and just a brush tool in Photoshop later.\u00c2\u00a0 To light these small rooms more evenly I used two Canon 580EX II using PocketWizard Plus II triggers set to about 1\/32 and sometimes 1\/4 power depending on what was needed.\u00c2\u00a0 I also set my white balance on manual (~6100K) but I got tired of having to change ever so often so I set it to auto.\u00c2\u00a0 I shot in RAW so I can correct it in post.\u00c2\u00a0 Now for the results:<\/p>\n
